Hello, I'm new on this forum . I read "A Slobbering Love Affair", and while I respect Bernard Goldberg, I beg to differ with him.
Far from being a "slobbering love affair ", Obama's reception by the general public has been one of the most vicious slander, mindless hatred , and the most scurrilous lies imaginable.
I'm not saying Obama is perfect ,of course, but he's in no way the evil monster he's been made out to be .
On the contrary ,he has been the victim of what must be the most massive and vicious smear campaign in U.S. political history . Rarely has a public figure been so utterly vilified and lied about .
It's one thing to disapprove a President's views on the issues and his administration's policies, but Obama has been demonized as the antichrist by so many .On the whole, this doesn't appear to be the result of racism , but due to the fact that he has the nerve to be a liberal at a time when being a liberal is the equivalent of eating pork in Mecca .
The whole preposterous and pathetic "birther" farce , and all the false rumors about Obama being a Muslim, foreign-born , unpatriotic , a "baby-killer" , a hater of America , a socialist ,marxist and communist and all that hogwash are the result of his willingness to stand up for liberal values and to oppose the obscurantism of the right in America .
Obama isn't really a doctrinaire left-winger at all . Ironically, the real left in America , of which I'm no part,
doesn't even think much of him or approve of him , or consider him one of their own . He's too conservative for them .
There was some rejoicing about Obama's victory in 2008 , but it was nothing compared to the vicious slander he has been subject to ever since . Give the poor man a chance to do his job . He's not planning to turn America into another totalitarian communist dictatorship .

While I may see where you would have the perception of your comments above, I'd like to point out that Bernie's book was talking about the mainstream media. While I'd agree there have been attacks on BHO from right sided media you can't really blame them, can you? Especially considering the viciousness against his predecessor. The MSM pretty much carried the torch for our President and that has been documented time and time again. Yes there are birthers out there, but there are still people think that Bush stole the election back in 2000.

What I'm saying is this is pretty much food for the fodder in what happens in almost every election. One side hates the the other side's guy and will say a wide ranging spectrum of things to show why they oppose that guy.

Whether or not Mr. Prez is left wing, liberal or even a conservative liberal (which kinda makes me giggle at the thought) this just shows me that BHO has lost much of his political capital in the last two years and his indecisiveness and trying to please everybody has pissed off both sides and maybe some independents.

I don't think the Prez is trying to turn us into a communist state, but he's had over two years of chances. At this point, it's deliver or face the consequences of his policies in the next election. The very fact that people are still saying "give the guy a chance" shows me he got in well over his head. In other words, he's a great campaigner, but governing is not his strong suit.

So preposterous that he has, like the rest of his personal records, them locked away never to see the light of day. Obama has spent milions in legal fees to keep this preposterous farce from being proven wrong or right. He couldn't be hiding something could he?

By not releasing his records he gets to further any controversy surrounding it. That's why I think he won't release the BC. But I have a sneaking suspicion that his college records are another matter. Everyone talks about how he's soooooo smart. But I think he was an average student and I'd bet his IQ is lower than say one of his predecessors. You know the one that everyone said was an idiot, but smart enough to steal an election and take us to war for oil.

Could be, I just don't see how it helps him though. He doesn't need to convince his base of anything. He isn't going to get votes from the other side, so it leaves all the Independents to sway. Most of them that I know are generally skeptical people, so it should hurt him with them.
