Global Non-Warming

I read an interesting article in The Denver Rocky Mountain News 3/16/07 by Thomas Sowell. It seems a group of scientists some from MIT and universities throughout the world have come to the conclusion that this global warming thing touted by the Algore and others is nothing more than a huge swindle. It goes on to describe the climate changes and states man had noting to do with it. The article is too long for me to re-type. I am sure you can google it under Thomas Sowell.

I just read that article Ed and it says basically what I've been thinking all along: That the Earth's climate is cyclical. I would agree that the Earth is warmer now than say a 100 years ago but I disagree that mankind is the cause of this.

Sowell's theory about grant money for research may or may not be correct. But it wouldn't surprise me if it were true. I mean, those scientists have to come up with ways to earn a living too. :roll:

Well you know Scott anything Al Gore says I consider untrue or on the edge. It seems that it is just another political ploy and when the election is over you won't hear a whole lot about it.

Two of us saw the article find your own link. It was in today's Denver Rocky Mountain News. Written by Thomas Sowell. If you did not know it he is a syndicated columnist.

Break your heart buy a paper. You can always use it to roll a joint.

Tell me why is it when the left does not want to believe something they come up with, show me a link. You guys do it on every forum.

sowell basically states that an unspecified number of unspecified scientists from an unspecified number of universities said global warming is natural. he says the unspecified scientists want their names removed from some unspecified publication in the unspecified media

That article literally did not have one varifiable fact. It didn't have a single name (except MIT which was mentioned in passing as being somehow related) and it didn't offer any of the proof to debunk global warming. I would be interested to see the documentary he talks about but as far as that article goes, it proves nothing. He also claims that the only evidence we have for global warming is a movie made by a politician and some mathematical models, this demonstrates that this man is painfully ignorant of the topic he is supposedly debunking. Either way, if you're going to try to tell me that global climate change is a swindle I'm going to need some actual facts.

Bad Science

An expert in thermodynamics says the assumption that the earth is getting warmer through the use of what is called a "global temperature" is scientifically unsound.

Professor Bjarne Andresen of the University of Copenhagen's Niels Bohr Institute says it is meaningless to talk about an average global temperature. He says compiling temperatures from various places and averaging them would be like calculating the average phone number in the phone book.

And he points out there are several different methods by which scientists calculate average temperatures â€” and they can come up with many different answers from the same set of numbers.

not sure i understand the point of your post, MrS. it doesn't say anything to counter global warming. it merely states that the methology to calculate the temperature may be controversial
