What?! Obamacare is going to be expensive?

Remember when all the media outlets were hammering away, night after night, at the phony accounting the administration was using to sell Obamacare? Yeah, I don't either. So it comes as quite a shock to learn from the CBO that Obamacare is going to cost so much money. Here's a fun take on the absurdity of all this:

Welcome to the board, Dan. Although that was an amusing story it didn't tell us much about the subject of your post, but you can read the story here. I took a quick look at a couple of other news sites but "unexpectedly" saw no mention of this.

Even though the story says it's going to cost twice as much as originally projected, the CBO still claims it will reduce the deficit! And I'm expecting the tooth fairy to show up any minute.

Actually, twice as much as projected is one of those "rosy scenarios" compared to most other government programs that I'm aware of.

That they do Cap'n. But remember, Obama is taking $600 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare that he said would come from improved efficiency in the Medicare program. So we are going to have Obamacare taking from Medicare and managed by?????

Thanks for the welcome, Cap'n, and for takin a look! Yes, my link certainly does not address the meat of this depressing, but completely predictable, story. Good info in the one you shared. The whole thing is through the looking glass; why wouldn't strippers in neck braces be covered under Obamacare? (Eyballs are appreciated.)b

So it's not possible to double count the Medicare $600 Billion, Tim? Hmmm. My favorite Reagan, re the approach of the federal government: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. When it stops moving, subsidize it.

Yes, and I believe Reagan said something to the effect that the scariest words in the English Language are "I'm with the federal government and I'm here to help".

When Obama first entered the presidential race, his hope and change statement was my first realization this guy would be real trouble if he became president. As a small business owner I have learned over the years that "Hope" is not a "Strategy" and "Change" is seldom an "Option".

Let's also not forget that those rosy cost scenarios are based at least in part on the fact that they count revenue raised over 8 years to pay for benefits paid out in only 6.
