Our new website

is really an attempt to take the meanness out of discusssions regarding culture and politics. Notice all the screaming?

Most of the websites that deal with politics especially are full of venom which is only worsened by the fact that the contributors are ill-informed.

I can say this because I: 1) did opinion polling and was constantly shocked by the ignorance of the electorate, even by those respondents who claimed to read all kinds of newspapers, etc. and 2) did content analyses of media coverage and found that while individual reporters may have been biased, all the media companies were interested in was coverage that garnered attention so they could sell advertising.

While I disagree with Bill O'Reilly on a number of issues, at least he's been formally educated in public policy and media concerns and has an informed opinion.

Most of the other pundits are just modern town criers pushing their own agendas. Ever notice how they always seem to have a new radio/TV show or book deal when they stir up controversy?

Gee what a coincidence.

At least with our website, we consider the shallowness of the media which is especially tragic given the seriousness of modern issues.

Our satire is a way of gently prodding people to do a little more in-depth thinking.

plz don't post to just keep "shamelessly publicizing" your website.

stick it in your profile and sig, and leave it at that. one post is enough btw.

(what u r doing is tantamount to ads, and we don't allow that here)

think DonKeehotey's post is an example of shameless publicity with the agenda of shamelessly publicizing "shamelesspublicity" publicly in a prepubescent manner
