ESPN GAGA OVER OBAMA

Unread postby humguitar » Mon Jan 26, 2009 12:19 am

I know that the majority of the MSM are in heaven now that Obama is president, but why, every time I turn to ESPN, are the different personalities drooling  over the fact that "we now have the first black president", making comparisons to Arthur Ashe and Jackie Robinson, and talking about how we now have a president that "is into sports" and "cares about sports".

This morning on the "Sports Reporters" show, they were doing it, and the other day Jim Rome was doing it. Every black athlete that Rome interviewed, he had to ask them what they thought of Obama becoming president.

Give me a break.

When I go watch a sporting event, I want to watch a great athlete play sports, I don't care what color he or she might be.

I thought we were past all of that. Let's recognize people for their achievements, not their color. I think we can apply that rule to all areas of society, including politics.

If they really want to talk about politics on ESPN, why don't they ask some of those black athletes what they think of Obama's belief that socialism will fix the economy? Or how about asking some of those athletes how they feel about Obama making partial birth abortion possible again?

I'm just kidding. I really do not want to hear those questions asked on ESPN, because I definitely do not want to hear Sports reporters or athletes talking about politics and their preferences. :shhh:

If I want to hear some smart-alec sports commentator, who doesn't know crap about politics, talk about politics, I'll turn to MSNBC (or is it CNBC, or did he get fired?) and watch Obermann (sp?).
"We seem to never learn from our past mistakes. Today's neocons are as idealistically misled and aggressive in remaking the Middle East as the Wilsonian do-gooders. Even given the horrendous costs of the Iraq war and the unintended consequences that plague us today, the neocons are eager to expand their regime-change policy to Iran by force." -Ron Paul

its b/c liberals are racists.

just b/c the opinions they express regarding race aren't negative, doesn't mean they aren't racists.

the problem with liberals is that they view everything thru a prism of oppression / identity politics, and so they fixate on the very superficial aspects of judgment they are supposedly against. its pathological with their ilk.

if i, as a white person, talk about bho first thing with every black person i see, thats racist, no matter how positive i am about it.

and as far as the media goes, trying to make out bho like he's "cool..." gimmie a freaking break. that guy has NEVER been cool, not ever in his life. he is a SQUARE and a dork. i mean please, his harvard answers to any and everything could bore the paint off a house... but the PERCEPTION the media is putting out there is that he is "cool" and so this becomes de facto reality, regardless of how obviously untrue it is, and they use THAT as the excuse to obsessively cover him, slobbering, (if u will), and cover up their own racist actions.

How about how most sport's people these days make well over the requisite $250,000 that Barry said he'd tax more. Wonder what they'd think of that?

You made a very good point, Mr. S. - I have been called a bigot and racist by a black lady because I voted against Barry. I told her it was a travesty for him to allow the media and Democratic party to push him as a black candidate - basically denying his background (a black father who left him to go back to Africa and a white mother) and bastardizing any real claims made by a true black American....and you would have thought, by her reaction, that I had a noose my hand and a white hood on my head. So, I told her it was nice to see that she too was color blind and had drank the kool-aid, and that when the honeymoon is over, she'll remember what I said and how it was far from being racist....and then walked off.

Obamamania is an over the top overreaction to Bush hatred. Bush was such an unmitigated disaster and such a reviled, despicable character that any Democrat that succeeded him would be lionized. The same self flagellation would be happening now if Hillary had been elected president as is happening with Obama. Bush literally destroyed the world with his fascist war machine that never let up for one minute during his entire eight year atrocity as a de facto president. He brought on Armageedon and an economic tsunami which may have destroyed this country past the point of no return. The fact that he left office in disgrace getting shoes thrown at him and that silence was the best the 1.5 million people who attended Obama's inauguration could give Bush speaks volumes.

Most here understand that there are good reasons to critique former President Bush, but if you actually think the above anti-Bush hyperbole impresses anyone, you're thinkin' wrong.

If you're willing to approach the discussion with any amount of intellectual honesty and objectivity, please let us know.

You have a good point about Obamamania with Chris Mathews saying he sends shivers up his legs, George Stephanopolis crying at the inauguration and the Washington post genuflecting over Obama's pectorals like he's an Adonis.
That kind of liberal fawning defies belief. He is only a human being and a politician and the Bush hatred shouldn't cause them to go that nuts over Obama. But lets not forget what an empty suit Bush was. He couldn't put a coherent sentence together and he spent 7 years of his stolen presidency by his little brother Jeb in Florida repeating the same four catch phrases a million times and saying nothing else: War on terror, Stay the course, If we don't keep fighting the terrorists have won and We're at war. Bush said nothing else and just repeated those four catch phrases for 7 years like a parrot. The man was such a stubborn mule and so dyslexic that it defied belief.

Obviously the answer is "No".
"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised and often condemned. Stevlich obviously enjoyed the absence of terrorist strikes on U.S. soil after 9/11 so much that he has nothing better to do than complain about the person who kept him safe.

This might be the most inaccurate post I have ever read here and to think it was your first one.

Congratulations! You have set the bar for failure very high.

Here's hoping that it will remain near the top of the page so that I can answer it point-by-point when I have a bit more time.

That would be like Buddy Rich performing with the Beatles.
