A Little-Known Pioneer Aviator Remembered

I've detected some interest in aviation on this board from time to time, and it occurs to me that some of you may like to read this story. I doubt if any of you will
recognize this chap's name, but he accomplished quite a bit in that field during its infancy. As a bonus, here's a picture I acquired during the meeting mentioned in the link:
Image
The photo was shot after an air show in Leesville, SC in 1923, about four years before his ill-fated flight. Redfern and "Dare Devil Harvey"
(probably a wing-walker) are shown on the top wing. The caption reads "Redfern and Dare Devil Harvey received by the Committee after
giving the Air Circus."
"Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised and often condemned. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating or is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty." - Robert Heinlein (Truncated to fit)
