Quid Pro Quo

It has been said, wisely I think, that if anything positive can result from the Obama-induced chaos in the Middle East, it is that U.S. students will become more geographically aware.

Now comes the very intimidating Latin expression “Quid Pro Quo.”

Quid Pro Quo means the agreed-upon exchange of values between or among competent parties. It is one of the essential ingredients of a contract, which is the foundation of commerce in a free economy.

Recently, the State Department had a meeting with the FBI asking that an email be reclassified so that its transmission over Hillary Clinton’s illegal server would not be felonious. So far, so good. According to Clinton’s apologists, these conversations and requests are routine.

However, an inconvenient scrivener at the meeting stated that the FBI asked as a “quid pro quo” that the State Department facilitate the location of additional State Department personnel abroad. So far, so truly bad. This sullies and discredits the integrity of both institutions.

The defense of the FBI is that it did not reclassify the emails. This might have some persuasiveness but for the fact that the quid pro quo for the reclassification request was also not granted. In other words, no quid, no quo.

In Latin or in any other language, this episode is emblematic of the skein of corruption that infects virtually every aspect of Hillary Clinton’s public “service.”
